STATEMENT OF FAITH
We believe . . .
- in the verbal inspiration of scripture, infallible, without error in its original writings. II Tim 3:16-17; II Peter 1:16-17
- in one God, eternally existing in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Identical in nature,
equal in power, possessing the same attributes. Matt. 28:19; John 1:1-14
- that man was created in the image of God, that he sinned and thereby brought upon himself physical and spiritual death. Eph. 2:1-3
- that Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, and is true God and true man. He is head of the church and is the only Mediator between God and man. Matt. 1:18-25, I Tim. 2:5
- that the Lord Jesus Christ came to seek and to save we who were lost by dying in our place on the cross. Luke 19:10; I Peter 2:22, 24
- that the Lord Jesus Christ rose on the third day after His crucifixion and ascended bodily into the heavens and is now at the right hand of God. I Cor. 15:3-4; Romans 8:34
- that all who receive the Lord Jesus Christ by faith are born again of the Holy Spirit and experience the forgiveness of their sins through the cleansing power of the blood of Christ and thereby become children of God. John 1:12; I John 1:7-9; John 14:16
- that all Christians are sealed by the Holy Spirit unto the day of redemption, thus assuring the believer that his eternal salvation can never be lost. Eph. 1:13-14; John 10:18-19; Hebrews 7:25
- that the church has two ordinances: baptism by immersion which symbolized the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ.
Romans 6:1-5; Matt. 28:19-20 and the Lord’s Supper is a remembrance of His death and second coming. Matt. 26:26-29; I Cor. 11:20-34
- in the personal, imminent, bodily and premillenial return of Jesus Christ to this earth. Acts 1:11; I Thess. 4:16-17 Rev. 1:11-21
- that a local New Testament Church consists of a company of baptized believers and is to be self-governing and free from
interference by any convention or any other ecclesiastical or political authority. Therefore, the church and the state must be kept separate. Luke 20:25; Acts 5:29
MISSION
Engaging our community to see lives transformed for Jesus
This is the never ending…not gonna achieve it in this lifetime…mission of Verde Community Church. God has called us to make disciples that make disciples Matthew 28:18-19
At Verde we specifically see our church accomplishing this mission in 3 ways…It’s our vision.
VISION
Reach the men so we can reach the whole family
Reach the younger generation so we have a future
Reach our neighbors so we can change our culture
To guide this mission and vision we have several “community values” that help us stay on track.
VALUES
A Community For ALL:“We are better together”
We believe life-change happens best in the context of relationship. For that reason, we will put people before programs, even sacrificing personal preferences in order to share the love of Christ. It’s all about Jesus: We are all imperfect people learning how to be in relationship with Jesus and each other.
A Community of DISCIPLES: “Everyone plays a part”
No one stands on the sideline and watches. Each person has yielded to Christ as Lord, following Him and bearing fruit. We serve each other in Jesus name as we make disciples who make disciples. It’s all about Jesus: He made disciples and told us to do the same.
A Community of Grace: “The Gospel changes everything”
We will serve our community with grace and love and be a community that strives not for perfection, but for transparency. We will meet people with grace and love as we speak God’s truth into their lives. It’s all about Jesus: God’s gift of Jesus is our model, motivation, and ministry focus.
A Community OF truth: “We stand on God’s word”
We live by the inspired Word of God and will seek to model our lives after Jesus Christ as living sacrifices to God. Our teaching will be biblically accurate, culturally relevant, and offered with sensitivity to the Holy Spirit. It’s all about Jesus: A vital relationship with Jesus is revealed here.
